PRODUCTION WEEK

MONDAY (bump in)

This was the start of a very big week. Lisa, Burak, Teigan, cooper and I started off our week at Aitken College as we do most Monday mornings only this one was different.. No one else was a school it was a curriculum day. A day off to all, all who don’t do theatre that is. The work of production team is never done. So we loaded the trailer and the ute with out set and of we went to MIPAC where we would spend the next week of our lives.
Once we got to the theatre the rest of the crew was there as they were off gallivanting the streets of Brunswick. We unloaded the truck and ute and bump in official began.
We put the French legs on the walls of the set and began painting lots of things black. The boxes and set had been painted before we got to the theatre but we did another coat at the theatre. We also explored the theatre. I did my first coffee run of many and we had lunch, we did more painting and more painting and went home.

TUESDAY
On Tuesday Beth Gem Lisa and I well accompanied by cooper headed down to the theatre at recess. The rest of them team was heading down a bit later. Cooper had to go back and get the rest of the crew and while he did that beth and gem started patching the lights, I was kind of de briefed on what was going on but really had no idea with all those cords and plugs everywhere. I then did another coffee run which was my unofficial job of the week. When the rest of the gang arrived we did a run through with a bit of lighting and a bit of sound and I plotted most of the notes I ever had that day. It was the 1st time we got the real effect of how amazing the show was. After I saw it in the theatre I had so much more hope for 100. I new then it was going to be a success. We had a big notes session where even I got to write more notes down. We then had dinner and after that I think had another notes session. After that we painted the set when a few crewbies had to go home. We also began painting the set with sponges and a grey effect.

WEDNESDAY
Once again I went to the theatre at recess and began doing bits and pieces with a few of the other chicks from the team. We had a few run throughs this day fixed up everything that needed to be fixed and painted the set here there and everywhere. We had many full run throughs will lights and cameras and lots of action. Cast was in costume and hair and make up was done. The show looked awesome. This was when I found my cold concrete place for me backstage with my script and my smoke machine controller. Rehearsals were always important especially to get used to the bamboo and the bamboo holder. It was easy to put the bamboo back without making to much noise. I don’t think we ever got this perfect. This night we finished sponging the set and said goodbye to the theatre ready for opening night.

THURSDAY (opening night)
We were all very nervous at school on Thursday. I don’t anyone was truly prepared and ready to put on this show that we’d all worked so hard on. I don’t think any of us came to terms with the fact it was opening night until we actually got to the theatre that night.
So a group of us arrived at the theatre Thursday and my best friend Ms mikayla was there waiting to give me a hug J she said good luck and all.. She is our unofficial theatre class member. Everyone was very quiet his particular night and back stage everyone was full of nerves. Opening night was awesome! It went so so well. I gave the heads up to the cast to go into starting positions and there faces were priceless. There was a great crowed ready to watch around 50-60 people came opening night which was suprising to us all.
There was a question and answer after the first show and thanks to angus there was many questions.
Opening night, well… what to say it was our best performance.

FRIDAY
Friday night wasn’t the best performance but hey apart from Tashas mum no1 else had saw it so no one else new it was that bad. I guess you could say coops was a little upset but everyone was sorry. A few bits and pieces went wrong very wrong but hey the show went on.

SATURDAY NIGHT
The final night… Went ok… Good but not the best. I think we expected it to be awesome and it just wasn’t. Still I was happy and so was the cast with the job they’d done. Between Fame then 100 I think its time for us theatre kids to leave the theatre for a little while..
